1. Where are the koto and shamisen lessons?
Midtown Manhattan,West Side, a block from the 42nd Street A,C, E, subway station and a short distance from Times Square. Please contact us for more information.
Skype Lesson is available.

2. How much for each lesson?
Private lessons only (no group lessons): 2 lessons per month minimum requirement, $170 per month. If you want to come more than twice per month that can be scheduled.

I offer these options for non-regular student.
One 1-hour lesson $120 per lesson Or, One 1.5-hour lesson at $140 per lesson.

3. Do I need to bring my instrument to the lesson?
No, you can use one of my kotos or shamisens.

4. When are lessons offered?
Generally, Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last lesson starts at 7:00 p.m.)
If it is not convenient for you, we can discuss it with you.

5. What about weekend lessons?
If you are unable to come during the weekdays, for example because you live far away from New York City, it is possible.

6. How can I make an appointment for a lesson?
By e-mail or telephone.

7. How can I buy a koto?
A koto costs about $1000, which includes koto bridges.
They are imported from Japan.

8 . What else do I need to play koto?
3 koto picks ($155/set)
Koto stands ($75/pair)
Koto cover and other small things (Everything is provided here)

It will cost about $1500~$1800 for everything you need to play.
Installment payments accepted.

9. How can I buy a shamisen?
It is possible to obtain a used shamisen in good condition from Japan.
About $1000.

10. What else do I need to play the shamisen?
A bachi (There are used ones available $120-$200)

It costs about $1800~$2000 for everything you need to play.
